B.T. McElrath's Favorite Drinking Chocolate
Ingredients
½ cup
water
½ cup
sugar
- pinch
sea salt
½ cup
cocoa powder
3 oz.
B.T. McElrath 70% Dark Chocolate Bar, broken into small pieces
½ tsp.
Kowalski's Organic Madagascar Vanilla Extract
4 cups
milk
Directions
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar and salt; bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat; whisk in cocoa powder.
- Stir in chocolate bar pieces and vanilla; set aside to keep warm.
- In a medium saucepan, heat milk to 120°.
- Add chocolate mixture to taste; stir well or whisk for a lightly frothy mixture.
- Pour into warm mugs for serving (some solid chocolate will settle to the bottom; stir frequently).
Tasty Tip:
- For best flavor, select a cocoa powder with a high fat content and a minimum of 26% cocoa solids.
