Grilled Bananas
Ingredients
4
bananas (firm but not green), peel on, halved lengthwise
- cooking spray or canola oil, for grilling
4 tsp.
sugar
- caramel sauce (such as Kowalski's Classic Caramel Sauce), for serving
- finely chopped nuts, for serving
Directions
- Preheat grill to medium heat; clean grill grates.
- Mist or lightly brush cut sides of bananas with oil.
- Sprinkle cut sides of bananas evenly with sugar; let stand for 2-3 min.
- Grill bananas cut-side down until dark grill marks appear and fruit releases easily from the grill grates (3-4 min.).
- Flip bananas; cook until the skin starts to pull away from the fruit (5-6 min., depending on ripeness).
- Remove peels and place bananas on a serving plate(s); drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with nuts. Serve immediately.
Tasty Tip:
- Warm bananas are delicious with ice cream or whipped cream. Also try them in place of (or in addition to) toasted marshmallows in traditional s'mores.
Switch-Up:
- Serve these topped with vanilla or honey Greek yogurt. Bonus: calcium, magnesium, B12 and potassium.
