Not-So-Sloppy Joe Burgers
Ingredients
1 lb.
Kowalski's Organic 100% Grass-Fed 85% Lean Ground Beef
1 cup
french-fried onions (such as Lars' Organic Gluten-Free French Fried Onions)
5 tbsp.
Kowalski's Organic Kansas City Classic BBQ Sauce
3 tbsp.
yellow mustard
2 oz.
jarred sliced sweet pimentos, well drained
1 tbsp.
Worcestershire sauce
4 tsp.
Kowalski's Signature Northwoods Grill Seasoning (from the Meat Department)
1 tsp.
chili powder
1
egg white
- kosher salt and freshly ground Kowalski's Black Peppercorns, to taste
4 thin slices
Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese

Kowalski's Butter Burger Buns (from the Bakery Department), split and toasted
- Garlic Dill BBQ Sauce for Burgers and Steak, to taste, for serving
- toppings, to taste: butter lettuce, tomato, pickles and french-fried onions
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, gently combine first 9 ingredients (through egg whites), being careful not to overmix; season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Divide mixture evenly into 4 portions; cover and let rest for at least 30 min.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet to medium-high heat.
- Working one at a time, shape portions into ½-¾" thick patties; using your thumbs, make an indentation in the middle of each patty.
- Sauté burgers in preheated skillet until cooked through, turning once (approx. 4-5 min. per side).
- Top each burger with a slice of cheese; serve burgers on buns with sauce and desired toppings.
Tasty Tips:
- Switch out grass-fed beef with bison for a jazzed-up bison burger.
- French-fried onions can easily be switched out with regular or gluten-free panko breadcrumbs.
