Ingredients
A note about gluten: When a gluten-free tamari is used instead of soy sauce, this recipe is gluten free.
1 bunch
green onion, trimmed and sliced diagonally into 2-3" pieces
½ cup
dry red wine
¼ cup
low-sodium soy sauce or gluten-free tamari
6 cloves
garlic, finely minced
2 tbsp.
dark sesame oil
1 tbsp.
minced fresh ginger
- freshly grated zest of 1 lime
2 ½ lb.
flank steak, trimmed
Directions
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together first 7 ingredients (through zest).
- Place steak in a large zipper-closure food storage bag; pour marinade into bag and seal. Marinate steak in the refrigerator for 3 hrs. to overnight.
- Remove steak from marinade (reserve marinade); let steak come to room temperature.
- Preheat a grill or broiler to high; if using a grill, clean grill grates.
- Grill or broil steak to desired doneness (4-5 min. per side), basting every 2 min. with reserved marinade.
- Allow steak to rest for 10 min. while boiling the remaining marinade.
- Slice steak thinly on the diagonal against the grain; pour hot marinade on top. Serve immediately.
