Air Fryer Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
1 lb.
Kowalski's Naturally Raised Ground Turkey
¼ cup
grated yellow or white onion
½ tsp.
fine sea salt
½ tsp.
onion powder
½ tsp.
garlic powder
1 tbsp.
mayonnaise
2 tsp.
Dijon mustard
4 slices
cheese (optional)
4
burger buns, split horizontally and lightly toasted
- toppings (your choice), to taste: lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced red onion, pickles, sliced cheese, goat cheese, mayonnaise, sliced avocado and ranch dressing
Directions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
- Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl; using clean hands, thoroughly mix until evenly blended.
- Using slightly damp hands, divide mixture into 4 equal portions; shape each into a ball and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Press down each meat ball to form a round patty about ½” thick; press your thumb into the middle of each patty to make a dent (this will prevent the patty from shrinking when cooked).
- Place turkey patties to the freezer for at least 20 min. (this will help them hold their shape so they don’t fall apart when transferring to the air fryer).
- Preheat air fryer to 380°.
- Using a spatula, gently transfer turkey patties to the preheated air fryer basket; air-fry for 12-14 min. or until internal temperature reaches 165°, flipping burgers halfway through cooking time.
- When burgers are fully cooked, top with cheese, if desired. Turn off air fryer; return burgers to air fryer basket to allow cheese to melt (this should take less than 2 min.).
- Serve on buns with your choice of toppings.
Tasty Tips:
- To grate the onion, place a box grater on a stack of 2-3 paper towels. Using the largest side, grate the onion until you have ¼ cup. Allow paper towels to soak up moisture from onions (no need to ring the moisture out – a little bit keeps the burgers moist).
- Turkey burgers can also be grilled, cooked on the stovetop or cooked in the oven. Cook to an internal temperature of 165°.
- Swap the buns for fresh lettuce to make a gluten-free lettuce wrap.
