Summer Berry Sauce
Ingredients
Provides more than half of the daily vitamin C requirements.
2 cups
fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries, stems removed, rinsed and drained
¼ - ⅓ cup
superfine sugar, to taste
¼ cup
Kowalski's Signature Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
1 tsp.
orange zest
Directions
- Combine berries, ¼ cup sugar, orange juice and zest in a blender; purée until smooth. Add additional sugar to taste, if desired.
- If using a berry with seeds, pass sauce through a fine-mesh strainer to remove seeds.
- Cover and refrigerate sauce for up to 1 week.
- Serve over ice cream or pound cake, or stir into lemonade, lemon-lime carbonated beverages or sparkling wine.
Tasty Tip:
- Superfine sugar, also known as caster sugar or ultrafine granulated sugar (such as C&H Baker's Sugar), is more finely granulated than regular sugar. Because it dissolves almost instantly, it is perfect for sweetening cold liquids. It can be substituted cup for cup for regular sugar.
