Balsamic Berry Sauce
Ingredients
1 lb.
fresh Minnesota Grown strawberries, hulled and halved or quartered (depending on size)
1 pt.
fresh blueberries
6 oz.
fresh Minnesota Grown raspberries
6 oz.
fresh blackberries
1 oz.
fresh Minnesota Grown mint leaves, tied together with kitchen string, some small leaves reserved for garnish, if desired
6 tbsp.
brown sugar
6 tbsp.
Kowalski's Fig-Infused Balsamic Vinegar
¾ tsp.
freshly ground Kowalski's Black Peppercorns
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together fruit and mint; set aside.
- In a small mixing bowl, stir together sugar, vinegar and pepper.
- Pour vinegar mixture over fruit; let stand for 30-60 min., stirring occasionally.
- Remove mint bundle.
- Spoon sauce over yogurt, cake, ice cream, Individual Meringue Shells (as pictured) or other desserts, if desired. Garnish with mint leaves, if desired.
Tasty Tips:
- After washing, allow berries to air-dry thoroughly before adding sugar and vinegar to prevent diluting the syrup.
- Try basil in place of mint!
