Espresso Granitas
Ingredients
2 cups
espresso or strong black coffee, lukewarm
½ cup
brown sugar
1 tsp.
freshly grated orange zest
- garnishes, to taste: fresh mint sprigs and orange curls or segments (optional)
Directions
- Combine coffee, sugar and zest in a medium mixing bowl; stir until sugar melts.
- Pour mixture into a 9x13" baking dish; freeze for 1 hr.
- Remove dish from freezer; use a fork to scrape up any ice crystals.
- Return dish to freezer; repeat scraping process every 15 min. for approx. 3 ½ hrs.
- When mixture is thoroughly frozen, fluff with a fork and freeze for another 30 min.
- Serve with garnishes, if desired.
