Bushel Boy Farms

Bushel Boy Farms

Jay Johnson founded Bushel Boy Farms in 1990 with a simple desire to enjoy ripe, garden-fresh, perfectly sweet and delicious tomatoes every day of the year – even in the middle of harsh Minnesota winters. But unlike everyone else who was selling tomatoes, he wanted to grow them in Owatonna, Minnesota. Jay didn’t want to sell tomatoes that had been picked green, put on a truck and shipped across the country to ripen along the way. He wanted to be able to eat ripe, red and delicious tomatoes picked right off the vine. Jay knew there was only one way to raise tomatoes like that in Minnesota: in the ideal conditions of a greenhouse.

By combining the latest in greenhouse design and technology with the hands-on TLC it takes to produce the sweetest, most flavorful tomatoes, Bushel Boy's expert team creates the perfect growing environment all year long in Bushel Boy's greenhouses. It’s how they ensure brilliantly red and perfect tomatoes every single time. All these years later, Bushel Boy Farms still find real satisfaction in serving garden-fresh, still-on-the-vine, locally grown produce that stays fresh longer, is beautifully ripe all the way through and tastes unmistakably delicious.
