Peace Coffee
Peace Coffee
Peace Coffee's mission is to make exceptional-tasting, organic, fairly traded coffee that sustains the livelihoods of the people who grow, roast, and sell it; preserves the environment that produces it; and delights the taste buds of those who drink it.
Founded in 1996 by the Minneapolis-based nonprofit Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) out of a series of conversations with Mexican coffee farmers, Peace Coffee has grown dramatically. What has remained constant is their uncompromising commitment to direct, fair, innovative dealings with coffee farmers and to the stewardship of exceptional coffee.
Through relationships with small-scale coffee farmers around the globe, Peace Coffee brings a wide variety of offerings to the Twin Cities. From crowd-pleasing, rich roasts to fill your cup all year round to unique seasonal offerings that reflect the terrain from which they rise, their lineup has something for everyone. Their seasonally unique Alchemy Series celebrates the craft, science and meticulous care that goes into creating a cup of coffee, from tree to table. One sip is like opening the door to a coffee lab and taking a closer look at the roaster's craft!
Stewardship of the environment is an issue of both local and global concern for Peace Coffee. A robust bicycle delivery program is supplemented with biodiesel vans throughout the Twin Cities metro. Organic production, a green building, complete with solar panels, and a workforce that's committed to pedal power round out their environmental efforts. Their coffee shop features a variety of local and organic treats and a complete composting program for a perfect treat that's zero waste, zero guilt and all goodness.
