Thelma's Treats

Thelma's began in 2012 when Dereck Lewis and his mom, Lana, started selling handmade ice cream sandwiches at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market. Using Great-Grandma Thelma's snickerdoodle recipe with local Anderson Erickson ice cream squished in between, they watches as customers flocked to their little pushcart.

In 2016, Thelma's sweet treats made their way to the Twin Cities retail market, the Saint Paul Saints' stadium and special events like the Grand Old Day festival. They have expanded their flavors from Chocolate Chip and Snickerdoodle to distinctively unique and appealing ones like Cayenne Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter with Banana.

Thelma's still makes each ice cream sandwiches by hand in their production kitchen in Des Moines, Iowa. Thoughtfully made with love in every bite, Thelma's is spreading more joy than ever!
