Local Partner Focus: Anti Cancer Club
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, supporting those affected and promoting early detection. Kowalski's is proud to support this cause by partnering with Anti Cancer Club, a Minnesota-based clothing line designed to spread awareness and inspire hope in the fight against cancer.
This bold and inspiring collection was created by Oskar Nord, a survivor of a rare type of bone or soft tissue cancer called Ewing sarcoma. His treatments include 12 rounds of chemotherapy, a crucial surgery to remove the sarcoma in his hip and subsequent hip reconstruction. This profound experience illuminated the pressing need for support, comfort and awareness within the cancer community. Oskar's personal journey sparked the birth of Anti Cancer Club.
This line of apparel is not just about fashion – it's about community, empathy and support. It's about bringing together thousands of people to raise awareness, provide comfort and make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer.
Ten percent of the profits from every Anti Cancer Club purchase goes directly to the University of Minnesota Foundation. This dedicated support fuels critical initiatives aimed at understanding childhood cancers, developing targeted treatments and ultimately working towards finding cures.

About the Book:
George Sorensen takes readers on a wild, hilarious adventure as he learns how to become a gourmet cook with the help of his friends, a group of amateur culinary experts. Meeting at George's little bungalow in Minneapolis once a month, they cook, eat, drink and teach him the ropes.
George embarks on a year-long gastronomic journey, from France to Greece, from goose to soufflé, sampling the delights of wild mushrooms, the flavors of the oceans and a Charles Dickens Christmas with a mouthwatering pheasant pie. But the path is not always easy. Arguments over wine erupt, while others sow discord and divorce. There are suspicions about whether the rattlesnake enchiladas are really rattlesnake or merely frog legs since, really, who can tell the difference? There is trouble unwinding the skin of an octopus. Rebellion ensues when tunics are required for a Greek-themed party featuring a cardboard Parthenon facade in the backyard. But in the end, it means an unforgettable journey of flavor, camaraderie and adventure.
Join George's culinary revolution, and you might even find yourself earning a blue ribbon for your homemade jam at the Minnesota State Fair or stumbling upon your future wife amidst blooming apricot trees.
